I am currently a Las Vegas local, Technical Writer and Corporate Trainer (see the Bob's Consulting page). I have written hundreds of technical documents and delivered hundreds of technical courses in my career. I love to teach people how to do stuff. I grew up in New York City, the financial and cultural capital of the world. (In case you didn’t know, us New Yorkers are pretty New York centric.) We lived way on the outskirts of New York but still within the political boundaries of the city in Brooklyn (one of the five boroughs that make up the city) in a neighborhood called Canarsie. We were about as far away from Manhattan as you could get and still be in New York. (That’s probably why I never developed a typical New York accent.) I was lucky to be accepted at Brooklyn Technical High School - you have to take a competitive test to get in. Tech is the largest (by number of students) high school in the United States, and when I attended, it was all boys. In your last two years you study engineering or science. I was going to be a Chemical Engineer. But then I took Organic Chemistry and that put an end to that. With girls being allowed to attend, the Speech Department revitalized the Drama Club in my senior year. I always loved to sing and act and was a very willing participant in productions of "Guys and Dolls" and our original version of "Alice in Wonderland." I
attended the School of
Performing Arts at Brooklyn College and, originally, dropped out to
work in the
professional Theater as a stagehand and designer. I started working on
my
script GYNT
(based on Ibsen’s Peer
Gynt) while in college. Recently I’ve written a screenplay
for my novel A Blood
Moon Over Las Vegas. It
wasn’t until I started my
career as a stagehand, and had the opportunity to travel, that I had
some of my
own essential experiences. I knew I had some natural abilities but I
didn’t
know about “things.” I learned a lot in school and from books but I
never
learned about life. That was the motivation for my book Teach
Your Children Well – 50
Essential Experiences for Your Children. (And that is why I’m still trying to decide what I should be when I grow up.) Eventually
I returned to college
to study computers. For the past 30 years I’ve been a technical writer
and corporate
trainer, mostly
teaching adults how to use computer systems. So I do consider myself an
educator. After
I married, my wife and I
lived on Since moving to Las Vegas I
have worked for some of the
biggest companies in the gaming industry including the legendary
Stardust. And
that was the impetus for my book The Progressive Method for
Penny Slot
Success. I recently published a new version of my vampire novel A Blood Moon Over Las Vegas which is available on Amazon along with my other titles: Teach Your Children Well – 50 Essential Experiences for Your Children, The Progressive Method for Penny Slot Success, and the play GYNT. I do consulting work (technical writing) when I can and write song lyrics for fun. Check out my Songs page for some good listiening. |
